MommyGyver is THRILLED to announce our blog has grown by one. Tiffany Kay joins us with tons of fun makeup tips, tricks, and reviews. Not only is she a talented makeup artist, but she's also a mother of 4. She's got the put together mom thing down pat- and we are thrilled she's going to be bringing us her insight. Below is her first piece for us. -----------Blog Below-----------
For this week's review, I want to talk concealer. Specifically, Maybelline Master Conceal. For me, concealer is a vital part of my makeup process because I am a full-time working mother of four children. The "mom bags" struggle is real for me and for all moms- everywhere!
I've tried many brands over the years, ranging from top of the line to drugstore, and everything in between. My first suggestion of course, is always to test out products to see what works for you and your own skin type. This is always the first and most important part of the process. (It's great to get tips and tricks here, but everyone's skin is different- you know your skin better than I ever can!) I find products to try in ways just like everyone else. That's how I happened upon Maybelline's Master Conceal line. One day, I was in my local Wal-Mart, and found myself wandering through the makeup aisle. I stumbled across the Maybelline products, and remembered that I had heard that their Master Conceal was an excellent dupe for higher end and much more expensive concealer brands. Being a mom of four, (expensive!) I do love a great deal on an excellent product- and there's always a hope that it will become a staple in my collection. So as I was browsing this section, I picked up the tube and looked it over. The price is anywhere from $7-$10, depending on where you choose to pick it up.
There area variety of shades available, so this product is very versatile for all skin tones. The bottle is 12 ml (or 0.4 oz), and to give you an estimate of how long it lasts, I bought mine almost a year ago, and am still using the same tube. A little goes a long way! I, myself am very fair skinned, so I always choose the lightest shade, as you always want to pick one to two shades lighter than your natural skin tone. When you are trying to conceal, you always want to go lighter. (Lighter tones reflect light so the 'trick' to concealer is that it will reflect darkness and spots away with light.) The product itself is thick and creamy, but very blendable, and do you want to know my favorite part? It doesn't get stuck in the creases under your eyes or anywhere on your face for that matter! It's very full coverage, and will conceal anything from under-eye bags, dark circles, acne, scars, or any other imperfection or discoloration on your face. The tube also has a thin straw-like applicator, so I just squeeze a little onto my fingertip, and apply/dab wherever needed.
I have never had an issue with this product drying out in the tube.
It is also a perfect product for contouring. After I put on my full face (before any highlight), I apply it under my eyes, my brow bone, on the bridge of my nose, top of my lips, and chin. It lends the perfect amount of highlight for my needs.
As for durability after application, I have very oily skin, and this has not caused an issue for me at all. It definitely has staying power, and does not smudge or streak. Even though it is a thick, full coverage product, I do not not feel as though it is "heavy" on my skin. It wears all day for me. I hope you find this product breakdown helpful. Please comment if you have any questions or need more information on the product. A final note, I always recommend that proper skin care routine is a must! Be sure to cleanse your face every night, and remove all of your makeup! (To keep those fine lines and wrinkles away!) The links to the products are below, if you'd like to give them a try. (MommyGyver loves to look for a deal for the readers!) I've also included photos of before, during, and after for you to compare. Thanks for reading! - <3 Tiffany
