Deciphering the Disney/LLR Limited License
**Caveat** I am not an attorney. I'm just skimming through this agreement and I see some points that are interesting in comparison to the LLR policies and procedures and contract for consultants. License: - No street peddling. Pretty sure that means you can't hawk the Disney duds out of the trunk of your car. - You won't be able to sell or advertise these products at fairs or craft shows. Restrictions: -You can't get creative with the signage and graphics they provide you. That means no Disney biz cards, rack sizing cards, flyers, postcards, etc. -No mixing Disney with non-Disney Characters -You can't use the Disney headers and graphics to sell anything BUT the Disney products. -(This one is a given, but you know... have to add it) No smoking, porn, alcohol, etc with your Disney. --Can't represent the items as limited in any way- unless you are only specifying how many YOU have in stock. -No sales! -If you're having a pop-up in a commercial location, that location needs to have 4 walls. No kiosks or street vendor style gigs. - Don't imply collaboration or relationship with any Disney Store. Termination: -You can cancel your end of the participation any time- just stop using the materials.
-Disney can cancel at any time too. -If you are terminated or terminate your contract, you agree to delete or destroy all materials provided to you. Venue/Jurisdiction: - Get into shit with this? You're going back to Cali, Cali, Cali... Amendments: -At Disney's discretion- with 30 days notice. If you agree, click I agree. Download the docs. Don't agree? Don't download. Here's the contract again:
Hmmm... let's see how long this lasts... i think my biggest concerns about this (because this agreement isn't really that detailed or strict) are the following: -Consultants in the future that will be going out of business. -Compliance going into superspy mode overtime. I mean, it's a matter of seconds before someone messes up and says or does the wrong thing. Fifteen seconds later, there will be 6 LuLaMilitant taking pictures and sending to compliance. Look, I think it's a cute idea. I'm not going to lie. (EXCEPT for the Mickey Dorito print- I just saw that- and no, just no.) I still don't really understand how this fixes LuLaRoe. It's more of the same issues, lack of support, cryptic answer system, roundabout return system, and consultant cannibalism... just this time, it's wearing ears. I'm excited to see the prints, but that's because I like Disney. I'm curious to see how this whole thing plays out. The price point/quality/drama to get a piece factor all weighed in... I'm pretty set just kind of sitting here and watching. I see a lot of Mickey- but Patrick, if there's no Stitch... I don't know, man... I just don't think I'll be able to forgive you. I'm not sure if I would actually leave the house in anything Disney unless my kids were involved somehow. But I guess it depends on the subtlety of the prints. This move is a surprise, IMO- Disney usually likes to align with a more squeaky clean brand image, and the timing of this collaboration as it pertains to LuLaRoe's image and customer feedback is interesting to say the least. My advice? If you buy it, and it's shit- make sure you tweet and hashtag Disney. But, maybe I'm too tired to be as cynical about their decisions as I usually am. Or maybe it's just that Disney softens my heart. Either way- if it's a win, it will me magical. If it's a loss, it will be epic. No pressure...
