LLR Data "Breach" Update
Last week, MommyGyver shared an article penned by the organization, Web Trolls, LLC- discussing a possible data breach on LLR's website supposedly discovered by looking at page source code. The organization contacted LuLaRoe's corporate counsel to advise them of their findings. Web Trolls shared with MommyGyver, the response from LLR's counsel outlining that the document- supposedly containing approximately 25,000 email addresses, addresses, and phone numbers of LuLaRoe consultants was nothing more than the information used to populate the retailer map. The map, that LLR counsel claims retailers gave permission to have their information included on. Several consultants on the map had previously contacted MommyGyver because they claim they did not knowingly consent to this information being published- or what specific information would be published. Those individuals were provided the correct contact information for LuLaRoe to have their information removed from the map. In the response to Web Trolls, LLR's counsel stipulates that LuLaRoe has committed to protecting the integrity of the consultants' privacy, and has since asked the third party that manages the map to edit what information is included within. Regardless, the sensitive information was still supposedly accessible by Web Trolls. It is unknown how easily this information is to access, but is not considered a breach at this time. Based on the tone of the letter sent, it appears that counsel takes the security of consultant information very seriously and responded to this claim quickly by having the third party remove addresses from the file. Consultants can rest assured that at least with regard to this scenario, LuLaRoe acted accordingly to remedy the situation. This topic is pertinent to the article I previously wrote about the consultant map, and safety concerns related to some consultant addresses having been published. It is comforting, I'm sure, to now know that LuLaRoe has done their due diligence to remove that information from the map to better protect consultants' safety and privacy.
